Vietnam and South Africa have agreed to hold an inter-Governmental forum early next year to review progress made in implementing signed agreements and discuss measures to boost the progress of these agreements.

During his talks with Vietnamese Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat in Hanoi on June 14, Bernhard invited Vietnamese businesses to visit Namibia to seek opportunities in the field. He also affirmed that Namibia will give top priority to agricultural cooperation with Vietnam .

Vietnam is willing to share experience and increase cooperation with Mozambique, Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh has said. The Party leader made the statement while receiving General Secretary of the Mozambican Liberation Front (Frelimo) Party Filipe Chimoio Paunde in Hanoi on June 18.

South African companies will raise their investments in Vietnam, Ambassador Ratubatsi Super Moloi said at a meeting in Ho Chi Minh City on April 26. Moloi was quoted by the Lao dong newspaper as saying that a Vietnamese business delegation will arrive in South Africa to seek investment opportunities in the African country in May.

South Africa is one of promising markets with rich potentials for investment thanks to its developed economic infrastructure and vibrant market economy. South Africa is compared to be Europe in Africa, is the 20th largest economy in the world and has stable development for 40 consecutive years. South Africa’s strengths include rich natural resources in large reserves such as gold, platinum, base metal, coal, aluminium, chrome, iron ore, vanadium and minerals fertiliser production.

In May, Viet Nam will start training courses for Egyptian experts in charge of aquaculture and seafood processing, according to a cooperative deal signed by the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Egyptian General Authority for Fish Resources Development on May 10 in Ho Chi Minh City.

A conference on promoting cotton trade between Vietnamese businesses and West African partners has been held recently in Ha Noi, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade. State officials and entrepreneurs from Viet Nam, Côte d'Ivoire, Cameroon, Benin, Togo, Senegal and Burkina Faso discussed methods of harvesting, semi-processing and storing cotton to reduce impurities and maintain quality of cotton, as well as payment methods to facilitate their trade.

During the event, Southeast Asian firms were urged to capitalize on high potential investments in the continent in fields such as energy, management of sea port, upgrade of airports, transportation infrastructure, water treatment, agriculture, food processing, real estate, mining, to name a few sectors.

Morocco expects to seal an agreement on investment encouragement and protection with Việt Nam, said Secretary of State to the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Latifa Akherbach. The Secretary made the statement at her recent meeting with newly appointed Vietnamese Ambassador to Morocco Cao Xuân Thấn.

He stressed that his fruitful meetings with Vietnamese Party and government leaders have helped to strengthen trade and investment ties between the two countries, especially in the fields of pharmaceutical, fertilizer production, transport, industry, agriculture and finance.

The main objectives of the Forum are to create a permanent framework for the development of partnerships between African and Asian companies and institutions, and to share best practices in strategic development. It should bring some of the Top business champions and decision makers from Africa and we expect the same from South East Asia.

Chairman Abdelaziz Ziari had working sessions with Minister of Construction Nguyen Hong Quan, President of the Vietnam-Algeria Joint Committee and Chairwoman of the Hanoi municipal People’s Council Ngo Thi Doan Thanh. The two sides exchanged measures to speed up the exchange and cooperation between agencies and localities.

Delivering the Algerian people’s respect to the Vietnamese people’s courage to defend the country, the Algerian official said the Algerian people’s revolution has originated and developed on the grounds of the values the Vietnamese people had attained from wars against colonialists.

The government and people of Vietnam wish and will try their best to bolster relations with Algeria in all fields, said Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung. PM Dung made the statement while receiving newly-accredited Algerian Ambassador, Chikhi Cherif in Hanoi on January 14.

The Algerian leader also had working sessions with Construction Minister Nguyen Hong Quan, Chairman of the Vietnam-Algeria Joint Committee; and Chairwomen of the Hanoi People’s Council Ngo Thi Doan Thanh and the HCM City People’s Council Pham Phuong Thao.
