ASEANTEX 2005, the inaugural ASEAN EXPO will provide Asean countries with trade and tourism showcase opportunities in South Africa. ASEANTEX 2005 will attract South African and African importers, traders, tourism authorities, travel agents, buyers, distributors, wholesalers and manufacturers who will be looking to source a wide range of products, commodities and services from the Asean countries.

The inaugural ASEAN EXPO will be hosted in Johannesburg, South Africa at Hall 5, Nasrec from Thursday 10 November until Sunday 13 November 2005

ASEANTEX will be officially opened at 11h00 on Thursday 10 November 2005 by the Honourable Minister of Trade & Industry, H.E Mandisi Mpahlwa who has been invited to attend as our keynote address speaker. Invitations have also been sent to our Honourable Minister of Tourism, H.E Martinus van Schalkwyk and the Premier of Gauteng, H.E S Shilowa.

ASEANTEX is the only Trade, Tourism & Culture Exhibition of its size and kind on the entire African continent. It will provide an opportunity for the ASEAN countries to showcase their products, services, tourism attractions and culture (food, traditional dances, arts and crafts, investment opportunities, etc.) to visitors from all over the world.

ASEANTEX will act as a platform to promote trade, tourism and culture between South African, African and Asean companies and will help develop import, export and investment opportunities between Asean and Africa.

ASEANTEX is organised by South Africa’s award winning exhibition company Global Exhibitions. Partnerships have been forged with the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Investment South Africa (TISA), the Gauteng Provincial Government and Asean Embassies in South Africa.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN ASEANTEX 2005

Please follow the procedures below:
1.	Complete the application form and return it via mail / email or fax to the Organisers.
2.	Upon receipt of your application, the applicant will receive notification of: a) acceptance of the application. b) advice on the allocation of the floorspace/booth c) quotation on the cost of floorspace/booth option
3.	Upon acceptance by the prospective Exhibitor of 2 above, an Agreement (contract) as well as an invoice will be forwarded to the Exhibitor. At the same time the Exhibitor will receive a copy of the Aseantex Services Manual.
4.	A copy of the completed and signed Agreement, together with the remittance of the 1st payment (50% of total payment due) must be received by the Organisers as confirmation of the booking.

CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS
Exhibition space at the National Exhibition Centre (NASREC) is limited and availability of Exhibition Facilities is subject to demand. Applications received at an earlier stage, may qualify for more prominent positions within the Exhibition Halls.

CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS IS 30 JULY 2005.

TERMS OF PAYMENT
• 50% of the total invoiced amount is payable within 30 days of issue of the invoice.
• 50% (the balance due) is payable by the final payment date as stipulated on the Agreement and invoice.
• Exhibitors who do not observe the terms of payment will forfeit the exhibition space / booth packages allocated to them.

NO POSTDATED CHEQUES WILL BE ACCEPTED.

EXHIBITION VENUE
NASREC is a modern, purpose-build Exhibition venue, which offers interlinked exhibition halls, restaurants, conference facilities and on-site secure parking for both visitors and exhibitors. The centre is conveniently situated in Johannesburg with easy access to major highways, airports and city hotels.

VISA ASSISTANCE
It is required from the South African Government that Exhibitors from certain countries must obtain visas to enter the country. The Organisers of ASEANTEX 2005 will assist Foreign Exhibitors by means of Official Invitations, which Exhibitors will attach to their visa applications. A copy of the Official Invitation will also be forwarded to the relevant South African Embassy with proof that the applicant is a bona-fide Exhibitor.

EXHIBITION CATALOGUE AND THE WORLD-WIDE-WEB
An Exhibitors Catalogue, listing the names, contact details as well as a company and product description of each exhibitor will be published in the form of a classified index. The Organisers offer an additional feature via their website,where all the details of each Exhibitor will be entered on the ASEANTEX website. This will enable potential visitors to establish which Exhibitors will be participating, view the range of products per industry sector and allow them to schedule appointments with Exhibitors in advance.

HOTEL & TRAVEL
The Official Travel Agent for ASEANTEX 2005 is Haffy’s Travel and Tours.
Haffy’s Travel and Tours provide cost effective hotel accommodation packages and a regular shuttle service from the major hotels to the Exhibition Centre. Pre and Post Exhibition Tour Packages to a variety of tourist destinations are also available. A travel consultant onsite at the Exhibition will also be available to co-ordinate travel and entertainment for Delegates.

ASEANTEX 2005 is an Exhibition of award winning Global Exhibitions, who have appointed Oasys Exhibitions as the official service provider and stand builders for this major event. Global Exhibitions will be responsible for the marketing and promoting of the event and Oasys Exhibitions will focus on stand build up, security and registration.
